Melania Arredondo, Office Technician
Melania attended Southwestern College in San Diego, where she earned her Associate Degree in General Studies. She pursued her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and graduated from National University. Melania has also taken training seminars relating to her current position with the Fire District, earning the California Special District Association Board Secretary/Clerk Certification.
Melania began her employment with the Fire District as a part-time Office Technician in the Operations and Training Department in September 2007.
Melania was promoted to full-time status in 2014 as the Office Technician for the Community Risk Reduction Department. Melania took the initiative to learn more about other departments within the Fire District and transitioned into the Clerk of the Board office in 2016.
She responds to record requests, supports the department with the preparation of Board and Committee meetings, plans and coordinates District events, and provides backup support to the Administrative Secretary as needed.
Award and Service
Melania was selected by her peers as the 2017 Employee of the Year based on her professionalism, commitment to her job, and her willingness to always help others. She is a positive role model at work and within the community. Melania is known by Fire District personnel as dependable, flexible, and friendly.
Melania's community involvement includes serving as a Fire District Community Liaison Officer, where she provides support to fire victims that have been displaced and helps find shelter, gather personal belongings, and initiate insurance claims. Melania is also involved with the Fire Foundation program and has served as a committee member for the last 10 years. She has also helped with many events, such as the Make a Child Smile and Senior deliveries.
In her personal time, Melania enjoys volunteering at Wickman Elementary School and being the Team Mom for her children's soccer and softball teams. She also enjoys working out at the gym and spending quality time with her family.
Melania has been a resident of Chino Hills for 18 years, alongside her husband, Alex, and three children, their two daughters, Sofia and Ava; and their son, Diego.
