Technical Reference

The Chino Valley Fire District has State certified Hazardous Materials Specialists on staff. These personnel can conduct in-the-field chemical testing of unknown materials and determine what they are and the hazards they pose.

Firefighters are supported with technical expertise to determine how to stop a hazardous materials release, neutralize a hazard, and minimize the impact on public safety. We have special equipment that help us determine dangerous levels of flammable vapors, levels of toxic gases such as carbon monoxide or hydrogen sulfide, and levels of oxygen available.
