Make A Child SmileHelp Us Answer the Call!
The Chino Valley Professional Firefighters' Association is looking to our generous community to sponsor the 2008 Holiday Season and to help us "answer the call." This vital sponsorship will allow your business, association, or civic group the opportunity to bring the spirit of giving to some of our most needy children. All proceeds are tax-deductible and go directly towards the implementation of our Make A Child Smile family of programs; Code 3 Delivery, Special Delivery, Senior Delivery, Camp Delivery and Adopt A Family.
The Make A Child Smile Family of Programs
The Code 3 Delivery at Wal-Mart invites underprivileged students from the Chino Valley Unified School District to shop with Chino Valley Firefighters. This program started in 2002 with 34 children and has grown to 71 children in 2007. The dollar amount started at $100.00 in 2002 and has increased over the years to $135.00 per child. The school district chooses the children; alternating each year between the schools in the city of Chino and the city of Chino Hills. The participating children are paired up with a firefighter or police officer; as well as a Wal-Mart associate and any sponsors or dignitaries interested in shopping with a child. Food and crafts are provided to the children as they finish their shopping experience. Santa is available for pictures with the children and their shopping group. A sponsorship appreciation breakfast is held earlier in the morning at Wal-Mart before the festivities kick off.
The Special Delivery program provides holiday gifts and a reception for the children at Hillview Acres, a home for abused and neglected children. Each resident child or young adult drafts a Christmas wish list and a team of Chino Valley Fire employees then shops each approved list up to $135.00. Each gift is then specially wrapped for the holiday reception that is held at Hillview Acres, just before Christmas. This event begins with fire engines arriving on the premises with lights and sirens and Santa exiting one of the engines spreading holiday cheer. Uniformed personnel then help the participants, usually around 3-4 dozen, unwrap their gifts. Pizza and finger foods are served. Santa is available for pictures with all willing participants.
The Senior Delivery program is a special senior citizen luncheon served up by Chino Valley Firefighters at the City of Chino Senior Center. Donated funds are used to either provide retail store gift cards to all in attendance or to purchase raffle gifts in which all participants receive a raffle ticket. Santa is available for pictures and the atmosphere is provided by the Chino Valley Firefighters.
The School Delivery program makes food and gift cards available to those children of families within our community, deemed homeless by the Chino Valley Unified School District.
The Camp Delivery program provides funds in the form of scholarships for young burn survivors to attend summer camp. 2007 was our first year to participate and since then we have sent 8 children @ $750.00 each to Champ Camp; a summer camp run by the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. As funds allow, we will continue these scholarships and hope to include scholarships to Firefighter Burn Quest.
The Adopt A Family program makes funds available to children of families that have suffered any personal tragedy. Our engine companies identify the families in need and request funds through the program. Items are then purchased for the families depending on their needs. This is an on-going program throughout the year as funds are available.
The entire Make A Child Smile family of programs has merged with the newly formed Fire Foundation, formerly known as C.H.I.E.F.S. With your generous donations the Make A Child Smile programs will prosper as well as spawn new programs to better the lives of even more members of our community. Thank you for your interest.
