Firefighter of the Year
This year’s recipient is Tim Shackelford, a sixteen-year veteran with CVFD.
Tim started his Fire Service career with the Los Angeles County Fire Department in 1990, as a Fire Service Aide. Tim was hired as a Firefighter by CVFD in December of 1991. Since joining CVFD, he has steadily moved up in the organization, becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic in 1997, a Captain in 2003, and in August 2007. Tim promoted to Battalion Chief.
Tim has been very active in his career with the District. He was a Fire Explorer Advisor for 5 years, the Spark of Love Toy Drive Coordinator for 10 years, a Paramedic Skills Instructor, a CPR Instructor, and an Urban Search and Rescue Team member. Tim has worked on several committees, including: the Uniform and Safety Committee, the Negotiations Committee, and the EMS Committee.
Tim is a Southern California native, born in Sierra Madre and raised in Diamond Bar. Tim graduated from Diamond Bar High School in 1986 and continued his education at Mt. San Antonio College, earning his A.S. degree in Fire Technology. This year, Tim also completed a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University.
In his personal life, Tim enjoys most, spending time with his family. Tim has been married to his wife Shannon for 15 years, and they have two sons; Riley (9) and Addison (7).
Tim's dedication, loyalty, and hard work have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and the prestigious award of 2007 CVFD Firefighter of the Year.
