	Firefighter of the Year: Captain Dan Winn

Chino Valley Fire District Captain Dan Winn was selected by his peers as the 2011 Firefighter of The Year based on his exceptional work ethic and fire service knowledge. 

Captain Winn was hired in September 1983 as a Fire Apparatus Mechanic for the Chino Rural Fire District. In July 1985, he was promoted to the rank of Firefighter.  He became an Engineer in August 1990, and in November 1993, was promoted to the rank of Captain.  Captain Winn was assigned to Fire Station 67 in 2011.

Captain Winn graduated from Ganesha High School in 1973 and later attended Chaffey College, where he continued his education in Fire Science.

Captain Winn has worked on special projects, such as Fire Apparatus Specifications, and has assists with warranty and maintenance issues.  Captain Winn holds certifications in Urban Search and Rescue, Swift Water Rescue and Confined Spaces.

Captain Winn has served as Chairman for the Apparatus Committee. He has also served as a committee member for the Urban Search and Rescue team and the Tire Maintenance Program.  He is a member of Local 3522.

Captain Winn resides in Corona, with his lovely wife, Sharon, of 20 years.  They have two sons: Jeff and Matt Richards.
