Fire Chief Paul Segalla

Chief Paul Segalla resides in the City of Rancho Cucamonga with his wife Amy and his son, Matthew.

 

Chief Segalla was born in Chicago. He was raised in Harvey, Illinois and graduated from Thornton Township High School. He has an Associates Degree in Fire Science Technology, a Bachelors Degree in Fire Service Management, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

 

Chief Segalla is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) and has also completed High Performance Organization training at the University of Virginia.

 

Chief Segalla started his Fire Service career as a paid on call firefighter in Harvey, Illinois in 1979. In 1983, he was hired as a Firefighter for the Downers Grove Fire Department. He worked for the City of Aurora, Illinois, as Fire Lieutenant from 1985 until 1994 and simultaneously served as a Captain for the Berkeley Fire Department. He returned to the Downers Grove Fire Department as Deputy Chief from 1994 to 2001. From 2002 to 2005 he served as Fire Chief for the Lockport Township Fire District.

 

Chief Segalla also served as the Fire Officer Program Director for the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute teaching throughout the Midwest in areas such as Planning, Incident Management, Unified Command and Officer Development.

 

Most recently, he served as the Fire Chief for West Covina Fire Department from 2008 to 2013.

 

Chief Segalla is currently an active member of various fire service organizations, including the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the California Fire Chiefs Association and other regional Fire Chief Associations.

 

In his personal life, Chief Segalla is a huge fan of the Chicago Blackhawks Hockey Team. He enjoys reading, church, spending time with his family and is a regular runner.
