Inspections

For the safety of the community, fire inspections are conducted in approximately 3,000 occupancies each year. Fire District personnel assist business owners in obtaining compliance with fire code requirements to reduce the risk of an emergency occurring.

Occupancies with higher life safety/fire hazard are inspected by Fire Prevention Officers as well as all businesses new to the community. Examples of the types of occupancies inspected by Fire Prevention Officers include assemblies, hazardous materials, high-piled storage, care facilities and special extinguishing systems. Occupancies with a reduced hazard level are visited by Engine Company personnel.

Although single family residences generally are inspected by request only, there are approximately 300 residences in the designated High Fire Hazard in the Fire District that are inspected each spring for brush clearance and emergency access. A site for disposal of trimmings is provided to support the fire safety efforts of the High Fire Hazard area residents.

Permits are issued and fees assessed in accordance with the Uniform Fire Code and the Fire District Fee Schedule ordinance.

The Fire District utilizes the 2000 Uniform Fire Code, 2001 California Fire Code, Fire District Standards and all applicable states, codes and ordinances.
