Chino Valley Fire Foundation

Jeff Heringer
Fire Foundation President

The Chino Valley Fire Foundation was organized in 1994 by a group of concerned citizens that shared the goal of raising funds to assist in providing fire safety education to local children.

Over the last 15 years, the Foundation,  previously known as CHIEFS (citizens helping in educational fire safety), raised tens of thousands of dollars in support of the Fire District’s “Learn Not To Burn” education program and later, the “Risk Watch” program. The “Risk Watch” program teaches first graders safety messages in the top eight areas that cause the highest numbers of death and injuries among school-age children. Instruction focuses on:

Motor vehicle safety

Fire and burn prevention

Choking suffocation and strangulation prevention

Poisoning prevention

Falls prevention

Firearms injury prevention

Bike and pedestrian safety

Water safety

The Risk Watch Program has grown since 1998 from a program reaching 328 children in three schools to a program that reaches 1,500 children in twelve schools.

In 2006, The Chino Valley Fire Foundation and the Chino Valley Professional Firefighters Union joined forces for a new mission. As a result, the Foundation continues to support the public education needs of young children within the Fire District’s jurisdiction, while expanding services to those in need within our community.

Our Mission Statement

“The Chino Valley Fire Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting life, safety, and welfare of the public through educational programs, direct assistance, and financial support of charitable organizations, victims of tragic events, and injured firefighters.”

As part of this merger, the Foundation absorbed several ongoing programs, with plans to expand with the growing needs in our community.

The “Make a Child Smile” family of programs includes:

Adopt a Family

This program makes funds available to families that have suffered personal tragedy and need immediate assistance to make it through a difficult time.

Code Three Delivery

Underprivileged children are identified by the Chino Valley Unified School District. The Foundation provides funding for those children identified to be able to shop with a uniformed Firefighter or Police Officer before Christmas. This program has grown from 35 children to 100 children in 2009.

Senior Delivery

Firefighters help prepare, cook and serve lunch for Senior Citizens at the Chino Senior Center during the Christmas season. Entertainment and raffle prizes keep the party going.

Special Delivery

Firefighters on fire engines deliver wrapped gifts on Christmas to children living at Hillview Acres, a home for at risk children.

Spark of Love Christmas Toy Drive

Toys are collected at all fire stations and our administration offices from the community and distributed to local charities.

The Foundation relies on the generous donations from our major sponsors, in addition to the generosity of numerous businesses and individuals within our community.  Major sponsors include:

Majestic Realty Foundation

Chino Valley Medical Center

Wal-Mart

Toys R Us
