Bio of Ed GrayPresident Gray has lived in the City of Chino since 1959. Ed and his wife Bernice were married in 1970, shortly after he returned from serving in the United States Army and a stint in Vietnam. Ed and Bernice have three children, Keith, Ellen and Matthew and four grandchildren.
President Gray began a 28-year career with the Upland Police Department in 1976, when he was appointed as a Patrol Officer. He was promoted to Detective in 1982, Sergeant in 1989 and Lieutenant in 1995. During his career he has supervised a Narcotics Task Force, Code Enforcement, a Community Oriented Policing Team, a Specialized Enforcement Team, the Reserve Police Officer Unit and was the Coordinator for Police Explorer Post 606.
President Gray holds Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory and Management Certifications from the California Commission of Police Officer Standards and Training. He also holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Chaffey College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration from the University of Redlands.
President Gray retired from the Upland Police Department in 2004.
During his career with the City of Upland, President Gray has been exposed to almost all the aspects of the processes involved in public government. This has given him a broad understanding of the issues facing communities and their elected and appointed officials and the importance of making considered decisions that affect the community.
